About
Kharita gathers territorial data under open licences, documents it, shows it on a map and lets everyone take away only the area they need. And where the data is missing, we build it.
Mission
Geospatial data on Morocco exists, but it is scattered across institutions, incompatible formats and portals that are hard to explore. Kharita takes it in, cleans it and republishes it properly — in French, English and Arabic.
More to the point, the portal does not just serve whole files. Work is rarely done at the scale of the Kingdom: you study a municipality, a province, a watershed. So Kharita builds the file on demand, limited to the chosen area — which spares you downloading a country to cut out a district.
Datasets that vary over time or with depth are treated as series, not as stacked files: you pick the year, the month or the layer you want, and the extraction applies to that one.
How it works
Every dataset comes with its source, its licence, its update date and a record detailing its attributes. Without those four, data cannot be reused.
The portal clips on demand: a region, a province, a municipality picked from a list, or a box drawn with the mouse or a finger. The file you get holds that area and nothing else.
Layers appear instantly on a full-screen map, satellite imagery included: you view and clip a nationwide image without ever downloading it.
A monthly, yearly or depth-layered dataset reads as a series: pick the date or the layer, the map follows, and the extraction applies to what you are looking at.
Rita, the portal's assistant, answers about the page you are on. The blog publishes practical guides on geomatics and GeoAI applied to Morocco.
Browsing stays open. A free account — no password, just a link sent by email — is asked only at download time, so you can find your extractions again and so real usage can be measured.
Services
The portal publishes what can freely be published. But plenty of needs will find no answer there: data that does not yet exist anywhere, an analysis to run on a specific perimeter, a platform to build for your own teams.
That is the other side of Kharita. We build datasets to order, run spatial analyses, work with satellite and drone imagery, and design maps, dashboards and mapping applications — for public and private organisations alike.
What we produce is handed over documented and in standard formats: your teams have to be able to use it without us.
