About
Kharita gathers open-licensed territorial datasets, documents them and makes them downloadable and explorable on a map.
Mission
Geospatial data about Morocco exists, but it is scattered across institutions, incompatible formats and portals that are hard to explore. Kharita collects, cleans and cleanly republishes it.
Every dataset is documented, georeferenced and downloadable as CSV, GeoJSON or Shapefile. Layers can also be viewed on an interactive map served as vector tiles, with no API key.
The project is independent, open and reusable. The source code and data flows are public; each page indicates the original source and applicable licence.
How it works
Each dataset comes with its source, update date, licence and a descriptive page detailing its attributes.
Layers are served as vector tiles with MapLibre and Martin. No API key, no proprietary dependency.
The blog publishes practical guides on PostGIS, MapLibre, Python and geospatial AI applied to Morocco.
No paywall, no collection of personal data. The project is funded and maintained by its creators, in a public-service spirit.
