1.Purpose of the service

Kharita publishes, documents and distributes geospatial datasets: interactive maps, downloadable files, technical articles and consulting services.

Browsing the catalogue and downloading files are free and open to all. Some features — comments, notifications, the Rita assistant, area-based extraction — require an account.

2.User accounts

Accounts are created through a sign-in link sent to your email address: there is no password to remember. That link is personal and must not be shared.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the address you provide and for the use made of your account. You may request deletion at any time; comments already published may be retained in anonymised form so that discussion threads remain readable.

3.Licences and reuse of data

Every dataset carries its own licence and its own source, shown on its page. That statement prevails over any general rule set out here.

Unless stated otherwise, data produced by Kharita is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence (CC BY 4.0). You may copy it, transform it and use it commercially, provided you credit the source.

Some datasets come from third parties (Haut-Commissariat au Plan, OpenStreetMap, Copernicus, ESA, geoBoundaries and others). Their own terms apply and must be respected, including where they are more restrictive.

4.Prohibited uses

The service is open, but a few uses are excluded:

• Presenting the data as your own work, or removing source and licence statements.
• Querying the service automatically to the point of degrading it for other users.
• Circumventing technical limits: extraction quotas, size restrictions, administration access controls.
• Posting unlawful or defamatory content, or third-party personal data, through comments or requests.
• Attempting to re-identify individuals from aggregated data, or combining datasets for that purpose.

5.Content you submit

Comments, requests and files you submit remain yours. You grant us the right to display them on the site as part of the service.

You warrant that you hold the necessary rights over what you publish. We may remove without notice any content that breaches these terms or the law, and suspend the account concerned in the event of repeated breaches.

6.The Rita assistant

Rita is a conversational assistant that answers from the catalogue. Its answers are generated automatically: they may be incomplete or wrong, and constitute neither expert advice nor any commitment on our part.

Before making a decision, refer to the dataset page, its source and its licence. Use of Rita may be subject to quotas.

7.Availability and accuracy

The service is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee continuous availability or freedom from error, and we may modify or interrupt it, in particular for maintenance.

Data is prepared carefully but may contain inaccuracies of position, date or classification. As published, it is not suitable for uses where an error would endanger people or property — navigation, emergency response, legal delimitation of land — without independent verification. We accept no liability for decisions taken on the basis of this data alone.

8.Ownership of the site

The Kharita name, its visual identity, the structure of the site and its code are protected. Open licences cover the datasets we publish, not the portal's design or its source code, whose reuse requires our written agreement.

9.Changes, governing law and contact

These terms may change; the update date at the top of the page is authoritative, and continued use of the service means acceptance of the version in force.
