Socio-economic indicators by commune — Morocco, 2024 census
The main demographic and socio-economic indicators of Morocco's 1,503 communes from the 2024 general census (RGPH 2024) of the High Commission for Planning (HCP): age, illiteracy, schooling, activity and unemployment, employment status, housing, running water, electricity, sewerage and recent migrants, with the legal population in 2014 and 2024. Values are percentages as published by the HCP. The share of recent migrants is left blank for the six communes divided into districts (Casablanca, Rabat, Salé, Fez, Marrakesh, Tangier), whose published figures are inconsistent. Commune boundaries come from Kharita's “Legal population by commune” dataset. The average distance from homes to a paved road (route_km, published by the HCP for rural communes only) and each commune's mean altitude (altitude, in metres, computed by Kharita from the SRTM-based Terrain Tiles relief tiles) complete the table.
